Fireplaces, Stoves & Masonry Heaters are architectural structures created to contain fire for heating and ambiance. They almost always require a firebox, chimney and adequate footings. The firebox can be masonry (brick) or metal (manufactured insert). They may have ad "open-backed" design, such as in the classic Rumford fireplaces or a closed air-tight design with glass doors, such as in a modern insert, stove or masonry heater. The chimney can be constructed using insulated stainless flue and framed-out with carpentry or with solid masonry, clay flue and brick or stone exterior. |
